OKHT isn't so hilly in the first 30 miles, but has plenty of climbing which builds to a pretty brutal end. The Horsey Hundred gets most of the hills out of the way in the first 50 miles. The ride was beautiful, passing by all the famous stud farms that have bred Derby and Triple Crown winners. Just about every one of the biggest thoroughbred farms in racing are on this route. This is what makes the ride unique. The scenery almost makes you forget about the pain. It was tough, especially since it was only my eighth ride of the season. I know, not smart. I rode solo for most of the last 50 miles and that took a lot out of me. I wasn't really prepared for it, but a stubborn mind, some Clif Bars and plenty of Gatorade can conquor anything.
