>>> 9.10.05 - Old Kentucky Home Tour

Description: Century ride from Louisville to Bardstown, Kentucky
When: September 10, 2005
Distance: 102 miles
Elevation Gain: 5,000 ft. (everybody has their own guess)
Information: Louisville Bicycle Club - www.okht.org

Review: Rode this one with my buddy Michael, his cousin Steve and friend Tom. WE WERE ROLLIN. The weather was great early on with a few windy spots, but it hit about 100 degrees later in the day. I had the least amount of miles in my legs out of the group so they were pacing higher than I was used to. That was fine until the afternoon heat hit.

There was a new section after the last SAG stop that was different... a lot more rollers leading up to the final climbs of Pottershop. I achieved my main goal of breaking 6 hours on an OKHT century so I was excited. Thanks to Steve and Tom for pulling (I think I pulled on a couple of downhills... :). We kept a nice consistent pace until about 85 miles where I started to slow down.

It was a great experience. Great ride, great scenery and lots of support from the volunteers and sags. One of those rides you have to complete at least once.
